Cruising with Denny
On November 8, I went on a seven day Salute to Veterans cruise on the Carnival Valor out of Miami. It was a great experience and when Medal of Honor winner Sammy Davis told his story there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. On one of the sea days I even got to participate on a panel stressing the importance of the veterans writing their memoirs, and writing in general.
That cruise was so enjoyable that we’ve put together a mystery and crime-themed cruise for next year. Titled Mystery on the High Seas; A Cruise to Die For, it will be a seven day Mexican Riviera trip on the Carnival Splendour leaving from Los Angeles on November 14, 2010.
We’ll have panels featuring mystery writers and speakers from the publishing world. I’m going to present three true crime sessions with former cops, a former Nevada Gaming Control Board agent and real-life mobsters from multiple crime families. There will be plenty of time for schmoozing, networking and photo ops.
