The Sheena Morris Unsolved Death in Bradenton Florida

Tonight, August 2, 2011, on the Crime Wire Investigates radio show, as part of our on going flame to justice, we discussed the death and lack of investigation in the unsolved death of Sheena Morris.

On January 1, 2009, the 22-year old was found hanging from a shower in a hotel room located in Anna Marie Island, Florida. Sheena was ending the relationship with her on again off again boyfriend, telling her mother it was coming to an end and things were going to change in the New Year.

It is important to note that a victim of intimate partner violence, never takes their own life as we would learn during the show; often they figure out the best way to move forward minus the violence and live their lives, not take their life! This was not a suicide as initially ruled. Basically, no investigation was done by Bradenton detectives and the crime scene was mishandled. The medical examiner's office relied on those who responded to the scene, and with limited information and incorrect police reports, each a contributing factor in the initial ruling for this case as a suicide.

It would be Kelly Osborn, Sheena's mother, that would gather evidence and information, along with hiring outside forensic pathologists Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Michael Berkland, that would allow theFlorida medical examiner to change the manner of death in March of 2011 to "undetermined." That should have been enough to re-open the case, but it was not. Public comments in media interviews labeling Kelly Osborn as a mere "grieving mother" are inexcusable.

In addition, 10 months after Sheena's death, the detective contacted the person of interest and informed him that "he is going to contact his alibi" for the evening in question. This action, in and of itself, is a huge ethics issue. It goes to credibility and can hurt future cases within the department, the county, and for the FDLE.

There were other issues and red flags of importance discussed about this case. The FDLE must takethe lead and step in to investigate. Until they do, we (Crime Wire) will continue to take appropriate measures in the murder investigation and ultimate justice for Sheena Morris. Below is the link to the Crime Wire show.

What will probably be the most colorful of the Mob presentations, Dennis Griffin, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B Goodman and Andrew DiNonato close out Mob Month at the Las Vegas Public Library on Tuesday, January 25.

This discussions will focus on what led to living a life of crime, the decision to leave that kind of life behind, protecting family and loved ones during the transition, and moving forward.

Andrew DiDonato worked for the Genovese and Gambino crime families in New York who later became a government informant and wrote the book Surviving The Mob which was later turned into a confessional style documentary film; Dennis Griffin penned several fiction & nonfiction books about organized crime including The Battle For Las Vegas, Policing Las Vegas, and Cullotta; plus a visit with special guest Mayor Oscar Goodman as he reminisces about his legal eagle days representing Mob kingpins.

The Mob Museum is scheduled to open in 2011 and a presentation of mob related items will be donated to Mayor Goodman on behalf of the Museum in an onstage ceremony.

Please join me in January for three special presentations at the Clark County Library as they present Mob Month. The presentations are in the main theater and are free and open to the public. Everything begins at 7pm

The first presentation is on January 4,
Clark County Library welcomes four panelists: two from the right side of the law and two from the wrong side:

Retired FBI special agent Dennis Arnoldy led the team that arrested the infamous Hole In The Wall Gang; former mafia street soldier-turned-author/filmmaker Andrew DiDonato (Surviving The Mob) worked for the Gambino & Genovese crime families; ex-sheriff/ Internet talk show host Dennis Griffin is an author of 10 bestsellers including The Battle For Las Vegas– The Law vs. The Mob, Vegas Vixen, and Cullotta ; and ex-mobster/active government witness Salvatore ‘Fat Sal’ Mangiavillano whose testimony against mob instigators Peter Gotti & Huck Carbonaro resulted in their convictions.

Frank Cullotta of the Chicago Mob participated in the original Hole In The Wall Gang that pulled off the most notorious heist in Las Vegas and was mob technical advisor on the movie Casino; Andrew DiDonato worked for the Genovese & Gambino crime families in New York who later became a government informant and produced a documentary movie about his criminal life ; Dennis Griffin penned Cullotta, a biographical expose about Frank Cullotta’s life of crime; East Coast ex-mobster Henry Hill got the Hollywood treatment when his life story of working for the Lucchese crime family was portrayed by actor Ray Liotta in Goodfellas; and actor Craig Vincent played the cowboy who wouldn’t take his boots off the table in Casino and was also a technical advisor/stuntman for the movie.
